We cannot underestimate our youth in this great and marvelous exercise of tree planting and seedlings supplies as a Nation. Our bottom responsibility is to brighten their future. The future of our children lies in our hands. Our forefathers made remarkable strides in making use of our massive forests and that’s why trees and forestry remain a major foundation to our social and economic excellence that we are all proud of presently and in the future.

Trees are life and the environment cannot survive without our vicinity being green. We have to commit ourselves as Kenyans and make our country greener than it is today. On this account, we are encouraging our youth in this fast-growing society to understand the core ideological philosophy of tree planting since the danger of deforestation as a result of logging is headed to endanger our environment. 100 years ago, in many towns, today forest cover stood between 85 to 91%. Due to the ever-expanding population, not only locally in our country but globally, Deforestation exercises have taken a high toll and by this endangering tree cover flourishing worldwide and this has led to decreased tree cover percentage to around 7% in Kenya.

Dedan Kimathi Foundation prides itself in having over 300 youths all of them trained in-house on Environmental Conservation in a bid to set a new pace in making our society emulate the same. So far as this exercise continues to expand its antennae in tree planting exercise, we have been able to designate our youth to different counties within Kenya namely Tharaka Nithi, Meru Nyandarua, Lamu, Nyeri, Narok, Kajiando, Embu, Bomet, Kilifi, Kwale, Kakamega, Machakos, Makueni, Garissa, Laikipia, Muranga, Migori and Kiambu counties respectively. The same teams do train residents in their designated counties on how to plant, protect, preserve and taking care of the newly planted trees in their bid to make this exercise successful and well cherished.
