Uzalendo na Uhifadhi wa Mazingira

On Madaraka Day, 1st June 2026, the Dedan Kimathi Foundation will host a powerful and patriotic event titled “Uzalendo na Uhifadhi wa Mazingira” at Shujaa Mukami Kimathi Residence, Njabini (Nyandarua County). This gathering is not just a celebration of Kenya’s self-governance, it is a heartfelt reminder that true freedom carries the responsibility of protecting our environment and heritage.

Action and Reflection

From 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, participants will engage in meaningful activities that blend patriotism with environmental stewardship:

  • Tree Nursery Activities: nurturing seedlings that symbolize new life and hope for future generations.
  • Tree Planting at Sasumua Dam Riparian:  restoring natural ecosystems and protecting vital water sources.
  • Uzalendo Session: reflecting on the sacrifices of Kenya’s heroes and renewing our commitment to national unity and sustainability.

🇰🇪 Patriotism Rooted in Conservation

The theme “Uzalendo na Uhifadhi wa Mazingira” beautifully intertwines love for country with care for creation. It reminds us that patriotism is not only expressed through words or flags but through actions that preserve the land our heroes fought for. As the Foundation’s message declares:

“Our Freedom Means Nothing If we cannot Protect what our heroes died for!”

This statement captures the essence of the day—a call to every Kenyan to rise in defense of the environment, just as our forefathers rose in defense of freedom.
