Protecting People, Building Communities

On Friday, 5th and Saturday 6th June 2026, Dedan Kimathi Foundation, in partnership with the Kenya Defence Forces – 20 Parachute Battalion, and the County Government of Samburu, held a Free Medical Camp at Lesidai Community Health Centre, Samburu West. The initiative, themed Protecting People, Building Communities, was a shining example of how collaboration can transform lives and strengthen public health systems.

The two-day outreach drew over 300 walk-ins, each seeking medical attention for conditions ranging from malaria, blood pressure, and tuberculosis to skin infections, fungal issues, and stomach ailments. The turnout reflected the community’s deep need for accessible healthcare and the trust placed in the Foundation’s humanitarian efforts.

The camp’s success was anchored in teamwork. Kenya Army medics, doctors from referral facilities, and community health workers worked seamlessly to ensure every patient received proper care. Their combined expertise and dedication turned Lesidai into a hub of healing and hope.

“Health is Wealth” | A Truth Worth Believing

As the saying goes, “Health is Wealth.” People in good health take charge of their lives, manage their economic activities effectively, and contribute meaningfully to national growth. The medical camp embodied this truth proving that investing in health is investing in Kenya’s future. This noble initiative was supported by the County Government of Samburu and Boychild Love Organization, both of which share the vision of a healthier, more resilient society. Their involvement underscores the power of unity in addressing public health challenges.

Dedan Kimathi Foundation continues to champion community welfare through sustainable programs that blend patriotism, compassion, and service. The Samburu medical camp stands as a testament to what can be achieved when institutions and citizens unite for the common good.
