DKF VOLUNTEERS AT THE FOUNDATION’S MEGA TREE NURSERY.
Raising quality tree seedlings in good time is part and parcel of key preparation for a successful planting season.
Dedan Kimathi Foundation Environment Conservation Team 1 of 20 enthusiastic environmental volubteers has spent the day weeding, watering and transferring tree seedlings at the Foundation Mega tree nursery in Kinangop, Nyandarua County. The nursery holds approximately 1 million tree seedlings meant for donation to public institution when fully packed.
The goal of the Foundation is to have own tree seedlings to donate for planting during the planting season.
Dedan Kimathi Foundation believes that achievement of 30% tree cover is possible only if more individuals, groups and government bodies engage in tree seedlings production ahead of the rains. By so doing, there will be sufficient tree seedlings for donations, selling and also restoration of degraded forest lands.
